November is REALTOR Designation Awareness Month

REALTOR® Designation Awareness Month is recognized annually in the month of November. The National Association of REALTORS® encourages members to increase their professionalism, marketability, proficiency, and income through pursuance of an officially endorsed NAR designation or certification.
There is an official NAR designation for practically every specialty area in the real estate industry. Designations and certifications are awarded by each affiliated group upon completion of required courses.

REALTORS Team Up Against Hunger ~ November 26-30th ~ Make Plans ASAP to be Part of a Team

The Wisconsin REALTORS® Foundation (WRF) is launching its first REALTOR® volunteer week. REALTORS® Team Up Against Hunger will be November 26-30, 2018. The objective is to have REALTORS® Team Up and volunteer at their local food bank and/or pantry.
As you know the WRF announced its partnership with Feeding Wisconsin in September. Further, the WRF began its initial fundraising efforts at the WRA's Convention with the introduction of the DipJar. While we raised nearly 21,000 meals at Convention, we are turning our focus to volunteering at a local food bank or pantry during the week of November 26-30, 2018.

Please consider volunteering to Team Up Against Hunger during the week of November 26-30, 2018. Team Up as a firm or group! The goal is simple, to volunteer the week of November 26-30, 2018.
Please contact WRA if you are interested in Teaming Up during the week of November 26-30, 2018.

You can find local food pantries by zipcode at https://feedingamericawi.org/.  Members can coordinate either through WRA or directly with your local pantry, but you need to make arrangements ASAP.  One more note: If you participate, include #teamrealtor and #realtorsfeedWI in your social media posts. Direct Giver Program

We are in the final stretch of RANW's Direct Giver Fundraising period, and the November elections are Tuesday, November 6th. Soon we will be sending out the Association dues bills and then Direct Giver contributions "fall off the radar". Given the enormous issues the real estate industry is facing, we need your support now more than ever, so please send in your Direct Giver checks today. The WRA Direct Giver Program provides an alternative to an RPAC contribution for members who:
- wish to retain full control and direction over who will receive their political contributions.
- wish to give personal contributions to candidates for local and state elections and at the same time benefit the REALTORS® Association.

Direct Giver Process
1. Solicitations: The minimum contribution is $100.00.
2. Checks: Checks can be used and must be made to the WRA Direct Giver Program (not RPAC). Checks can be sent to RANW, W6124 Aerotech Dr., Appleton, WI 54914.
3. Credit Cards: You may also pay on-line via credit card.

4. Control: Contributions to the Direct Giver Program are deposited in a separate bank account from RPAC contributions. Structurally, the WRA then acts like a bank, with disbursements permitted only with the explicit authorization of the contributor. That is, you retain full control on how your direct giver money is spent.
5. Directing Contributions: Contributors may at any time direct their contributions, in whole or in part, to any candidate for local, state or federal office. When disbursing funds, contributors can email or call RANW or WRA to indicate how they wish their money to be distributed.

Mass Emails to Members

MLS has received numerous requests from members that mass-email such as announcements of new listings, open houses, etc. should not be sent to other members or companies without prior consent.
RANW MLS Rules & Regulations) reads:
Electronic membership data from RANW or RANW MLS may not be used for the purpose of broadcast emailing of new listings, status or price changes, open houses, incentives and bonuses.
Reminder:  The CAN-SPAM Act, a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have you stop emailing them, and spells out tough penalties for violations. It covers all commercial messages, which the law defines as "any electronic mail message the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service," including email that promotes content on commercial websites. The law makes no exception for business-to-business email. That means all email - for example, a message to former customers announcing a new product line - must comply with the law.

Sold-Comp Only Listings Reported to RANW MLS

Per RANW MLS Rules, Section 5.7, these may be submitted to MLS for comp purposes:  If offices have Office Exclusives or One-Party Listings, or FSBOs sold under Buyer Agency Agreements that do not sell through MLS, they can with Seller and or Buyer authorization as appropriate, report these sales through MLS as a Comp Only.  This builds a more complete and useful database of comp information to benefit all members.

Previously MLS required members to only submit their Sold-Comp Only listings to MLS for entry by Data Entry.  RANW was able to have Paragon allow for use of LIM to enter listings, and go through same required process of having the listing go into unconfirmed visibility to allow for review of all pertinent required data.  This will also make sure that a comp-only listing does not get added to the Searches, Prospects and statistics and into the Collab System to a buyer when it should not.


To Enter: 
~ Listing-Selling Company may enter these type of listings on line in Paragon under LIM, as Sold-Comp Only status
~ or the MLS Data Entry staff will be happy to enter these listings into the MLS System for you.  Please
see link (http://www.ranw.org/mls/submitalisting.asp) for data forms and or a blank sold status form. 

To Qualify:
~ The listing must have all the required data fields and features filled in
~ There must beat least the one main exterior photo of the property
~ The proper Sold data for this property, including the correct "Type of Sale" info.  Please click here to see this important information. Most often the sale is "Non-Arms Length", which means:  a sale that did not hit the open market. An example would be for sale by owner, or an individual owner selling the property to a family member, or other individual when the property was not exposed to open market conditions.
~ The listing had a one party contact to list or sell this property (and was not entered into the MLS System as an active listing ~ and sold during either of these agreements).

November Homebot Webinar Schedule

Homebot is a new item available in Paragon that is an automated marketing and relationship management tool.  This is optional in Paragon and has a fee associated with it.  

Have you taken 30 minutes to learn more about Homebot, Paragon's newest feature? Homebot is a sellers marketing tool designed to provide homeowners with data to better understand their home and how they can build wealth. The monthly report has a 68% open rate and will generate more activity between you and homeowners.

MLS Basics Class Offered ~ Nov 8th & Dec 4th

Every MLS does things a little bit differently, so learn what RANW MLS needs you to know! The MLS Basics class will cover our rules and recommended listing procedures, offer a review of listing data and forms needed to complete your listings, cover some of the basics of using Paragon, and provide info on the Supra lockbox program.
This class is a great supplement to the Listing Input and Maintenance (LIM) training, and can be attended by new as well as long-time members and office admins who might like a refresher course.

RANW MLS Lockbox & Key Program: eKEY Pro Trial Period Ending Soon

As an incentive to make the new Lockbox system easier for Members, all keyholders were given the eKEY Pro version of the app for the transition period and all of 2018. 

At the beginning of next year (January 2019), the trial period for eKEY Professional (eKEY Pro) will be ending. All keyholders will automatically convert back to eKEY Basic. Each keyholder will have the option to keep eKEY Professional (eKEY Pro) at an additional monthly cost, paid to Supra, available as a keyholder lease.

Keyholders who keep eKEY Basic will have the added value of new highlights added to the eKEY Basic program in Fall of 2018.

New Highlights for Supra eKEY Basic:
-Quickly and easily send an alert e-mail or text at the tap of a button to 3 people by pressing and holding the Alert button on the app for 3 seconds. Then a pre-defined e-mail or text is sent to up to 3 people identified by agent along with a link to a map of the location of the eKEY
-Authorization code improvements (Shorter authorization codes, easy to enter. Click on link in mobile device to auto populate.)
-Create real-time listing notes in SupraWEB
-Data at the door displayed when keybox is opened (Get MLS listing data plus a property photo when keybox is opened)
-Listing agents can provide last-minute instructions to showing agents without visiting the property
-Apple Watch compatibility
-Respond to the end of showing prompt

DSPS Real Estate License Renewal Deadline ~ Friday, December 14th

The Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services (DSPS) license renewal deadline is fast approaching! You should have already received an email from the DSPS with license renewal information or you can click here for a link to the online renewal portal.

The DSPS requires the completion of four mandatory and two elective CE courses to renew your real estate license by 12-14-18.
When licensees renew online they will be asked to confirm course title, school/sponsor, course dates and CE hours. For more information on how to check at www.wra.org for classes you've taken, click here and enter your myWRA login and password.

REALTOR Emeritus Applications Due by March 25th

REALTOR® Emeritus is a NAR designation available to any current REALTOR® member in good standing who has been a REALTOR® consistently for at least 40 years in a local board and a member of NAR, who currently serves on a local, state or national association committee.  
~ Applications submitted in the years 2015 through 2019 will require proof of one (1) year of service* at the local, state, or National Association level.
* “Service” is defined as serving as an officer, director, committee member, federal political coordinator, president’s liaison or regional coordinator to a country with which NAR holds a reciprocal agreement.

In some cases, RANW does not have data from the year a REALTOR® joined, so we don't notify members.  If you feel you qualify for REALTOR® Emeritus, please contact Cheryl at
cdreger@ranw.org by March 25, 2019.  RANW will work with you to complete the application and provide evidence of your 40 years and proof of service to submit to NAR.

New Licensees Must Complete CE This Biennium

According to the DSPS website:
~ If an agent was issued a license before October 1, 2018, they MUST complete the CE hours to renew their real estate licenses prior to December 14th.
~ After October 1, 2018, agents are exempt from completing the required CE for only the December 14, 2018 renewal.
All Real Estate Salespersons will be required to complete the required CE for all renewals after the upcoming 2018 renewal, unless their license was issued after October 1 in an even year.

Don't Lose Your REALTOR Membership! Required Ethics Deadline is 12-31-18

REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time within two-year cycles.
The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®. A new two-year cycle began January 1, 2017. The deadline for this cycle is December 31, 2018.

The new .realestate domain, launched by NAR in partnership with Second Generation, Ltd., will be available for purchase through GoDaddy, NAR announced. GoDaddy, get.realtor, and more than 20 other registrars will offer the domain starting Nov. 26, when it will be made available to the general public.

REALTORS® who have an active .realtor™ domain can sign up for a .realestate domain through the pre-sale, which runs until Nov. 16. Only REALTORS® can get the exclusive .realtor™ top- level domain and are eligible for the .realestate pre-sale. Stand out with a professional web and email address online.

Soon RANW will no longer be offering hard copy forms for purchase. The WRA had discontinued hard copy forms as of October 1, 2018. We are no longer able to place order through the WRA.
